Senior Reference Librarian

CM Legal

A global law firm is seeking a full-time Senior Reference Librarian for its New York, Washington, DC, or Houston office. Reporting to the Library Manager, this role delivers high-level legal and non-legal research and reference services to attorneys, paralegals, and business professional staff, ensuring information needs are met efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively.

The Senior Reference Librarian conducts statutory, administrative, and case law research across jurisdictions, retrieves SEC disclosures and M&A transaction materials, and compiles company intelligence and legislative and regulatory history materials. The role also tracks capital markets and M&A trends, manages research alerts, and leverages platforms such as Westlaw and Lexis, along with AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, to enhance research deliverables.

Candidates should hold an MLS or MLIS (strongly preferred) and have at least five years of reference experience in a law library setting, with advanced database expertise across platforms such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and Intelligize. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and a proactive, client-service-oriented approach are essential. The role requires in-office presence at least three days per week, and offers a salary range of $110,000–$120,000.
